Needlepoint

The Union Jack needle point pillow kit.

On my couch when I finished -
4 months of nightly work.

 The back of the pillow.

I put red leopard print around the edge.

A colorful back on the union jack pillow,
you can barely see the zipper.

OK, OK you are right - I had the pillow made-because sewing for moi, Not so much!

A big shout out to E. doing such a great job putting it all together.

Finished pillow 12"x 18" - yes, the shading was in the needle point kit+thread
here is where I bought Union Jack needle point.

The above image is an example of a needle point + petit point French screen I have on the floor at BRASWELL.

Petit point is worked on fine point canvas (smaller than regular needle point) - this is a three paneled screen - must have taken years to do this kind of work, so beautiful!

Close up of one of the panels on the screen.

Aren't these amazing?
 All that work.

In this picture you can see the wood frame (grey) that surrounds the screen, some areas are needle point others petit point (mainly the figures) on this piece.

I was taught how to needle point by my grandmother, Ruby.
I am so blessed she took the time to teach me.

Try, dear readers, it is very calming after a long day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

The above picture is a door stop that belonged to my Grandmother Ruby.
Notice the doggie collar? That is from Ruby's beloved dog Chuffy. Chuffy was a darling Chihuahua(Ruby's sister raised chichuahua's) Ruby loved him dearly..
I treasure this little dog with the collar!

This is one of the only images I have of Ruby(I called her Ruby-not Grandmother)
She is walking down a street in Alabama(on the right)circa 19?
She is wearing hat, gloves & pearls.
How perfect on this Red Heart day-that my
grandmother's name is "RUBY"(synchronicity?)
I wish you, dear readers,
Happy Valentine's Day.

Love,

Peggy

Sketches by Missoni

Rosita & Ottavio Missoni designs from my 1993 Desk Diary,
Aren't they divine? and just as lovely in 2011.

The one above is called Floral bouguet: a strapless sequined silk gown is drawn in a graceful multi-color print of large florals. So glorious, just love this sketch!

This is  Black and White Vibrations: Missoni's signature space-dye technique is perfect for a fluid stretch silk jersey long dress with criss-cross back straps.
So beautiful and timeless, don't you think?

OK here's my favorite Missoni.
Gypsy Dance: layers of color and movement are achieved by folds of net tunics over a patchwork-printed dress and long ruffly skirt. Yep! that's me dancing in Italy-(I wish)
Isn't this just too beyond the beyond.
OK I'll take each one of them-
now you pick your favorite

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the year of the lucky Rabbit!

The Chinese Year of the Rabbit begins today, February 3rd. The fourth of 12 Chinese animal astrological signs, the rabbit largely represents tranquility and calm. The Chinese horoscope always start with the Rat and goes through a 12-year cycle ending with the Pig. 2011 being the Rabbit year indicates that it is the 4th animal in this cycle.

I wish a happy, healthy and lucky new year to my readers!

Love,

 Peggy

M is for Monogram

Hi: some of you know I am was brought up on the Redneck Riviera (called just that) the NW panhandle of Florida-growing up as a "nice" southern girl-
my mom & grandmother monogrammed everything I wore (yes, even my handmade undies) soooo it is no wonder one of my most favorite things are having my initials, your initials, anyone's initials on pillows, throws, towels- oh yeah! just about anything!

Above are a few of the monogrammed things I have in the shop & my home
Towels - don't you just love the leopard print with initials & then there is white with purple letters-that was a gift.

The leopard print towel was a gift - so I just lined it with lavender and viola I have a fabulous throw
it is so cozy on those cold nights in S. CA. Yes, we do have cold nights!

Napkins-lavender (can you tell I think lavender is delicious). I try to find damask 26" or bigger with old monograms- and also hand towels(the red initials on old hand towel are peeking out in above image -The older the better-back in the day they were all done by hand! and so you'll know- does not matter whose initials are on them I love them anyway.

Pillow (that can be personalized with your initial-with or without date) We can order these for you in the shop! another favorite-burlap/stenciling

This is a bedroom for a client-love those monogrammed pillows. As a designer- by trade - it has become a trademark of mine to put clients initials somewhere in their home

Chairs with numbers monogrammed (also can be done with stencils) Love anything with numbers, script, writing (am I crazy or what!)

One of my favorite places to go in LA is Pamela Goese's shop called Monogrammit

above -some of the ways Pamela & her team can monogram

now doing appliquéd initials- aren't they just the best!

font showing the alphabet & how each letter looks-for guys block letters are always grand-Pamela has those also!

Did I tell you Pamela has gifts that she initials! Take a look at her website
So there you have it dear readers-my love of all things monogrammed!...
