FABULOUS PILLOWS

I got these Japanese WWII linen rice sacks. AMAZING! I made them into pillows(feather inserts). I have seven(7) 26"x14"

the backs are Dupioni silk with zipper at top(after cleaning the backs were not suitable) some have stitching when they wore out

Two 2 large wheat flour sacks(one even has a date-1948-WOW) from OMAHA NEB. 32"x17" w/feather inserts. Both sides of large wheat flour sacks is linen one side, other side has Japanese symbol.

( this is a small area of the back of one of the big flour sacks)-as you can see they would reuse the bags(turns out it is a great way to Go Green, then patched them when wear appeared-I have left that wear(which is stitched over & over)on the pillows.

This is a stamp that appears on the flour sacks.

This is how we used some of the pillows in BRASWELL

Feather Light Fixture

Feather light hanging in BRASWELL the shop

I have been wanting to try my hand at making a feather light fixture since seeing a similar one on of my travels.
above picture shows the first layer of feathers
You will need:
10'-12' cord with at least 75watt bulb
bowl with hole for light
glue gun(-be careful you can burn your digits with hot glue)
White ostrich feathers -80to100-feathers come in lots of colors

Half way through putting on the feathers..much easier to work- when fixture is hanging

Elio hanging completed fixture-It looks good!

In this shot you see white dupioni silk covering light cord( made silk snood for the cord)
gives it a more finished look

Isn't this GRAND...you too can make this for your home or order one here.
