Fall Dining Table

 The fall Dining Table is the post this week-

The fall table is the first thing you see when coming into BRASWELL, the shop.

It is Halloween month so a pumpkin is the vase for the Hydrangeas. In addition to Hydrangeas, fall leaves would be super, berries or flowers.

Tools we used- serrated knife, carving knife, black pen (for drawing a line around the top), large spoon (for flesh & seeds etc.) 

Pick a pumpkin that is a shape you fancy for your vase.Draw a circle with a pencil around the top of the pumpkin.

Use your knife to carve out a circular opening at the top (around the pumpkin stem)

Remove the flesh and seeds from the inside.

Viola!  Your vase

 I used a clear, straight sided vessel and arranged the stems loosely without crowding the flower heads. Take off all the flower leaves! I used gray Spanish moss under the flower heads. 

Discard water when murky, allowing flowers to dry in the vase.
I put small green & white pumpkins at each place.

 Just divine, the first blog I signed up to receive + I won one of her beautifully written & photographed books,(the only thing I have ever won) I was so excited - I blogged about receiving this amazing book.

Rainbow over Culver City

Today is Friday Sept. 30-almost a new month! What a fitting time to have a rainbow appear in front of Braswell, the shop.

The last time we had a yummy rainbow with rain was in Dec. 2010 here

The guest house(Judy's office) is behind them in this picture, the guest house was there when the Greenfeld's bought the home.

One of the water features and the back of this sweet, white wooden house!
The home has amazing trees surrounding it on all sides, you can see one of the trees poking through the back deck.

This is looking out to a rose covered gazebo from the side porch with its swings, rocking chairs & blue ceiling - very southern! Yeah!

Above are views of the beautiful gardens surrounding the home & the kitchen. We designed & enlarged the kitchen when we remodeled the house 9 years ago.
Has it already been 9 Years?

The above pictures are on the porch off the dining room & the new family room off the kitchen. We enclosed a screened porch to make this family room.

Original Pocket doors in the living room open into the entry hall, you can 

peak at the dining room through another set of original pocket doors.

I adored working with Judy & Mike on this project (they have become friends as well as clients)

 This home has quite a history!

Looks like an East Coast, Ralph Lauren home on "flat land" in the San Fernando Valley of LA.  And yes, I am from the south - so a large White Wooden home with Dark Green Shutters was right up my alley.

HACKERS-SORRY

Jackson

 "Jackson Kitty", my shop guardian, in his favorite sleeping place! The Fax.

He is not the least bit worried about the computer hacking drama that has been on going for the last 2 weeks. I am sorry for my lack of posting, replies to comments, OH just everything. Someone hacked into my computer sending an e-mail to my contacts saying I was in Spain needing money Oh,and by the way, held up at gun point! then on top of that "charming"e-mail they attached a lethal virus.  AND The great thing to come out of all of this? hearing from friends/clients all over the globe-I was so touched and grateful for their compassion! & then to hear they were Virus Free! A Great thing!
