Some More Chinoiserie

I have always adored chinoiserie.
It is so delightful.
I use it whenever I can in homes.
It is sophisticated and goes with everything...

I just love it!

Isn't this chair lovely?
You know, I have a thing about chairs.

Always put some blue & white pottery!
Portieres are wonderful at the door and the pagodas are divine.
Let's just say I adore this room.

How beautiful is this chair?

 unknown

Lavender is one of my favorite colors.
No wonder I love this.

I have a client who has these!

Look at the ceiling.
The rug is just marvelous.
The rug was made in the 30's and is called "Nichols Rug."

Aren't those pillows cute?

 unknown

I once had two of these.
I guess they went the way of all the things "out."

Love the banisters + the art work.

Turquoise + red, what a supreme combination.

Look at the secretary in this picture.
Stunning!

The walls & ceiling are amazing in the picture.

OK, so you can have chinoiserie lights if you look hard enough.

Love how the shutters look in here.
They could be used in any room.
That blue & white ginger jar, divine!

Which one is your favorite?
Let me hear from you, dear readers.
I always love to hear your ideas + comments.

Love,

Peggy

Some Stripes

I have always adored stripes.
Anything with stripes, from outdoor to indoor,
the bolder the better.

Love that they are bold.

Looks like an inside of a tent.

Isn't this rug great?

Nothing better than stripes for wrapping presents.

unknown

A ceiling -  I have never seen this one before, love it.

In a bath!

In a hall!
Vertical stripes.

More vertical stripes.
Wow- this makes an interesting hallway.

These are wonderful.

unknown

So beautiful in an entrance.

unknown

On an umbrella.

Down on a table!

Just a wonderful place to sit.

Even on a teepee.

On a daybed that serves as a bed.
Look at that striped rug!

Because I love stripes so much I use them whenever I can
in the houses I design.
Dear readers,
tell me which one you liked the best.
Leave me a comment with your favorite picture.

Love,

Peggy

Fashion Illustrations- Jill Fitzsimon + John Galliano

Love these sketches from the
International Fashion Desk Diary by Shirley Kennedy.
Always excited when I can show you these lovely drawings.

The following three are by Jill Fitzsimon from Australia.
Any of these could be in style, today.
Her work reflects ecological concerns + Australian nature.

"Leapin' Lizards"
The frill neck lizard is unique to the Australian Desert.
The slim dress is silk/rayon jersey.
The Lizards body is patterned with diamente and silken metallic tulle.

"Clown Trigger Fish"
Has a surreal color pattern of acidic yellows, white & black.
This is printed on lightweight wool/cashmere in a cosy clutch coat.

 "Rain Forest Parrot"
Rests his head gently on her + wings into flight.
In the shoulder-hugging shawl which is attached to the dress.
Scarlet, fuschia, gold + white threads are interwoven in delicate silk
in a short strapless evening gown.

These next three are from John Galliano.
He started designing his own collections in 1984.

"Love in bloom"
A yellow freesia background sets off
the romantic rose patterned jacket which is decollete
+ boned in the traditional Edwardian corsety style.

"Summer sonnet"
A petite dress with a velvet tartan-plaid corset bodice
set off by a flower-laden cellophane train.
Red tulips heighten the romantic effect.

"Iris purple haze"
The dress is a collage of slashed silk chiffon
delicately caught with ivory seed beds to
produce a rough-cut diamond effect.
A generous train of chiffon displays
delicate shades of pinks, greys + blacks.

Dear readers,
tell me which one is your favorite.

I am so thankful for this book of lovely drawings given to me by my godfather.

Have a great weekend!

Love,

Peggy

Inspiration- Interiors I Love

Each one has "I love it" written all over them.
I gain inspiration from them all.

Love that lantern!

Love the symmetry of this with 2 chairs.

I thought this was so chic and unexpected.

Love the legs on the table.

This looks so inviting.

OK, can't get enough of blue & white.

Adore banquets.

Love this!

I adore dark painted rooms.

 unknown

Look at the BIG print on the shades + the bust!

Guess I adore symmetry + look at that angel!

I hung something like this at client's home.

Just LOVE those chairs at the table.

Another interesting chair in front of the desk.

So there you have it, interiors I love-
Which one strikes your fancy, dear readers?
Tell me you favorite.
Once again, I can not pick a favorite.

Love,

Peggy
